G’day Zoners and welcome to my final goodbye post here at NFZ.
Before I get on to sharing a few of my favourite clips with you, I thought I would first share with you how I first became a fan of Stephen and “The Colbert Report”, and how I first managed to come across “No Fact Zone”.
Although it shames me to admit it, I do not actually remember the exact moment when “Stephen” went from being that self-absorbed and opinionated bloke on tv after the equally annoying Jon Stewart, to the Stephen who’s show has become a staple in my daily schedule and whose varies magazine covers are hanging proudly on my bedroom wall. You see there was a time when I really did not know or understand anything about American politics and the various other topics discussed on “The Daily Show” and “The Colbert Report”, and for the most part I was too young to care about them - there were far more pressing “issues” to worry about when one was in High School. I am farely certain that I was first introduced to Jon Stewart through watching “Late Night with Conan O’Brien” and in turn to Stephen through Jon, in around February of 2007. I do remember that I much preferred Conan’s off the cuff and almost slapslick style of comedy to the satire of TDS and TCR, but while I was in my phase of not liking either of these shows, I do know that somewhere in the back of my mind something was telling me that these shows are unique, and unlike anything else on television, and that I should perserve and continue to watch them.
And perserve I did!! I had finally cracked the code and soon found myself diving headlong into “Stephen’s” parallel universe, and in no time I was in awe of Stephen and the amazing hard work put into creating an episode of TCR. I knew I had found the fandom for me when I found myself voting to have Space Shuttles and a whole manor of things named after Stephen. On a serious note, I have even found myself taking more of an interest in politics and current events, something that would never have had it not been for the cleverly interesting ways in which important issues are broken down and reconstructed on the show.
As my curiosity about Stephen and the show grew, I was fortunate to come across NFZ and was immediately blown away by the respect, dedication and intellegence of the fans who are apart of this community. There is nowhere else on the web that I can think that allows you to have such indepth and enlighting discussions about a television show, and still be die hard fans girls without having to first sift through 60 pages of crotch shots and paparazzi photo’s. It has made it an all the more joyful experience watching the show knowing that when the episode is finished I have somewhere to go and discuss the show with like minded people, and not having to warble onto my real life friends who really have no interest in the show what-so-ever - they really don’t know what they are missing out on. Thankfully, though I do have one friend in the real world who is willing to put up with my inane ramblings about that “awesome thing that Stephen did on last night’s show” (she is currently obessed with K-Pop and Rain! to which Stephen would be appalled to here!!). We’ve got it down to a fine art of stealthily coded conversations about the show, in which we’ve given Stephen the very Australian nickname of “Colbie” - in Australian slang nicknames are a sign of affection and are generally a shortened form of a person’s name with “a”, “o” or “ie” added to the end.
I hope that in my 18 months as a Completist specialising in “Six Degrees” posts that I have been able to share some of the best moments from the careers of those associated with Stephen and the show, and maybe even introduced you to some new fandoms along the way. It has been an immense joy and honour to be apart of this community, not only as a Zoner but also as a Completist, and I will be very sad to see NFZ come to an end.
I would not be able to bid farewell to you all without sharing some of my favourite moments from Stephen’s illustrious career with you. My first set of clips are from “Operation Iraqi Stephen: Going Commando”, and highligt the sheer genious of the character and the show, followed by Stephen at his most hilarious and “fearless”.

G’day Zoners! I hope your all enjoying April Fool’s Day, and more importantly brushing up on your “Friday” lyrics so you can all sing-a-long with Stephen tonight. As much as I loathe that song I really hope Stephen can put the TGI back in Friday - it was once my favourite day of the week. But I digress. This week in Six Degrees News Jon Stewart makes a cameo in “The Adjustment Bureau”, Jason Jones is co-starring in a new CBS comedy pilot, Lewis Black stopped by “The Late Late Show”, Mark Malkoff will be a guest on “Beer Diplomacy”, Amy Sedaris has a new iPad App, Conan talks about “Conan O’Brian Can’t Stop” and Movits! are touring Canada and The US
The Daily Show and Jon Stewart
“Jon Stewart and The Daily Show are featured somewhat prominently in The Adjustment Bureau? A clip of Matt Damon’s Congressman character appearing on the show is included in the opening montage, and in the second half of the movie he goes back on the show and there’s some short scenes that take place “backstage.””

Hear about the gags, see the red carpet threads, and find out who wins the Late Night award. The festivities start at 7p EST, as that’s when the stars start walking the red carpet. In addition to Stephen Colbert, the presenters list is like a Who’s Who of Who’s Funny in US Comedy today - Jon Stewart, Louis C.K., Rob Corddry, John Cryer, Tina Fey, Bill Hader, Tracy Morgan, Trey Parker, Matt Stone, Craig Robinson, Andy Samberg and the Lonely Island boys [with Akin], and more! And we’ll bring you the scoop on the event as it’s happening!
[Why yes, we’re totally jazzed, why do you ask? It’s the exclamation mark abuse, isn’t it?!]
If you’re not on Tumblr, you can still read the coverage - just go to our No Fact Zone Tumblr account. Karenatasha will be doing an in-depth review for our site about the event here at No Fact Zone later this weekend.

G’day Zoners! I don’t know about you, but I am still stuck in a post Ben & Jerry’s brain freeze of joy. Only Stephen could make chocolate coated potato chips and salty caramel swirl sound tasty. But I digress. In this week’s Six Degrees round-up; “Earth (The Audio Book)” receives more award nominations, Kristen Schaal features in a new “The National’s” film clip, Jimmy Fallon appears at The Paley Center, Allison Silverman appears on “This American Life”, and Conan O’Brien, Jon Stewart and Lewis Black are to be featured in Comedy Central’s tribute to the late Greg Giraldo.

Did you know that the ‘Daily Show’ has a franchise in the Netherlands? Neither did we, until we saw this video of TDS:N host Jan Jaap van der Wal interviewing Jon Stewart at the TDS:TOS studios. You can check out more about the new show at the The Daily Show (Nederlandse Editie) official site.
