Hello, everyone!
As long as we’re still up, we’ll keep bringing you all the news that’s fit to print. (Hmm—someone should use that line…) And here are two tidbits, one about an interview with Stephen and the other about Jimmy Fallon.
Today, in the New York Times, Stephen chatted about the seminal film Network —his favorite movie—in the Arts Beat column. It’s a wonderful and revealing discussion, and with the film’s focus on false news, it’s just perfect for the host of The Colbert Report. I personally love his emphasis on the quality of Paddy Chayefsky’s writing.
Also, for those of you in New York who are fans of Stephen’s BFF Jimmy Fallon, come to the Union Square Barnes & Noble on May 25th. He’ll be there to discuss his book Thank You Notes.
Enjoy!
G’day Zoners! I hope you are all enjoying your nice warm spring weather. Winter appears to have come early down in Aus, we are all freezing to death and it’ still only Autumn. Anderson Cooper, Mother Nature needs to be on your Ridiculist list!! But enough about the weather and onto this weeks Six Degrees round-up. This week Ed Helms hosts SNL, Demetri Martin has a new book out, Josh Gad receives a Tony nomination, Kevin Bleyer has been revealed as the writer who helped President Obama pen is WHCD speech, and New York Magazine goes inside Amy Sedaris’ New York City apartment.

And tomorrow is “Friday, Friday…”
Late Night with Jimmy Fallon was kind enough to post this little treat of a video featuring Stephen, Jimmy, and a cast of dozens rehearsing for last Friday’s “Friday” extravaganza. Fun fun fun fun!
P.S. I apologize for putting the song back in your heads.
Everyone still singing “Friday”? Yeah, me too. Remember the QR code held up in the background, which led to a cute video Easter egg from Jimmy Fallon? Well, we were wrong to be so easily satisfied, because there’s more down that rabbit hole. In the first video, Jimmy holds up another QR code, which leads you to the Fallon Colbert Project Bonus Video Level 2:
Oh, another QR code! Where, pray tell, will that take you? The Fallon Colbert Project Bonus Video: The Secret
Learn what assorted goodies Jimmy keeps in his desk! See what he eats for breakfast! Listen to previews of upcoming spots on his iPhone! I have to say, I haven’t always been the biggest Jimmy Fallon fan, but the BFFSM plot has been hilarious, and it clearly shows he can “Yes, and” with the best of them. It’s great to see his show having such fun with it, in really creative ways.
h/t to Ann G, who wants one of those fancy phones with the QR readers
If you saw the QR code (that weird box with a funky code in it) and were curious as to a) what it was, and b) why they showed it, we’ve got an answer for you! According to Wikipedia, “A QR code (short for Quick Response) is a specific matrix barcode (or two-dimensional code), readable by dedicated QR barcode readers and camera phones. The code consists of black modules arranged in a square pattern on a white background. The information encoded can be text, URL or other data.” In the case of this QR code, it was a sneaky way to share a URL - Fallon Colbert Project Bonus Video: Thank You - where you can find this video of Jimmy Fallon thanking the 12:37 Time Sluts? Fallon Funbags? Late Night Marauders? D*ck biscuits? Late Night Super Awesome Fun Club? Whatever they’re calling themselves these days, Jimmy Fallon is grateful.
EDIT: Check out the other Super Secret Easter Egg Videos!
How nice of NBC Universal to make the video of Stephen singing “Friday, Friday” on ‘Late Night’ available so quickly - and not to block it for those of us outside the United States! Maybe as nice as the fact that they chipped in another $26,000 for Donors Choose!
It looks like NBC fixed their embed code so I’m replacing the youtube clip (which has now been blocked) with the official peacock version. Enjoy!
Check out this audio from the Huffington Post - Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Fallon, via phone, sit down with Arianna Huffington and talk about their Best Friends for Six Months status, talk about how to give phone hugs, and make it pretty clear that Jimmy Fallon really had no idea he was so generous.
SPOILER ALERT!
Yesterday was Thursday, Thursday, today it is Friday, Friday. Which means that Stephen Colbert is slated to sing Rebecca Black’s “Friday” on ‘Late Night with Jimmy Fallon’. For those of you who simply can’t wait, here’s some spoiler sneak peek eye candy - and it looks like the special guest list for the song includes an American Idol winner and some NBA dancers that know Stephen quite well!

G’day Zoners! I hope your all enjoying April Fool’s Day, and more importantly brushing up on your “Friday” lyrics so you can all sing-a-long with Stephen tonight. As much as I loathe that song I really hope Stephen can put the TGI back in Friday - it was once my favourite day of the week. But I digress. This week in Six Degrees News Jon Stewart makes a cameo in “The Adjustment Bureau”, Jason Jones is co-starring in a new CBS comedy pilot, Lewis Black stopped by “The Late Late Show”, Mark Malkoff will be a guest on “Beer Diplomacy”, Amy Sedaris has a new iPad App, Conan talks about “Conan O’Brian Can’t Stop” and Movits! are touring Canada and The US
The Daily Show and Jon Stewart
“Jon Stewart and The Daily Show are featured somewhat prominently in The Adjustment Bureau? A clip of Matt Damon’s Congressman character appearing on the show is included in the opening montage, and in the second half of the movie he goes back on the show and there’s some short scenes that take place “backstage.””

EPISODE NUMBER: 7042 (March 29, 2011)
GUESTS: Stephen Prothero, Anthony Fauci
SEGMENTS: Turd Sandwich in Libya, Yahweh Or No Way - Christianity Is Fattening, Yahweh Or No Way - Christianity Is Fattening, Stephen’s Next Religion - Stephen Prothero, Jimmy Fallon Promises a Performance by Stephen
VIDEOS: Tuesday, March 29, 2011
Yay for the Turd Sandwich in Libya coverage! I’m guessing by the reaction of the “dog sandwich” line (Obama’s speech was like bacon, Jalapeno corn muffins and pop-tarts) that maybe Stephen had a bit of a struggle getting that line out. So sorry to hear that Stephen’s given up Judaism for Lent as well as Catholicism. I was kind of enjoying his off-color Jewish jokes.
As of writing this guide (8:45a EDT), the total for the Jimmy Fallon Donors Choose project is $26,045 - way to go Colbert Nation/12:37 Time Sluts! Of course, now I’m going to have “Friday” stuck in my head for days and days and days. Here’s the moral conundrum I’m facing however - when Stephen sings, I put the MP3 on my “Stephen Colbert” list in my iTunes. Do I have to put “Friday” on there now too? Gah!
